We recently stayed at a hotel in downtown Schenectady and were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Despite being located in a bad neighborhood, we found the hotel to be quite close to Union College and the downtown area, making it convenient for exploring the city. The room was comfortable and clean, with a good TV and a refrigerator. The staff, although not the most attentive, did their job well enough. We also enjoyed the basic but sufficient continental breakfast. it was a decent stay considering the location.
We did notice that the hotel could use some improvements in terms of customer service.

During my Christmas stay, I appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the fact that it met my basic needs. The bed was comfortable, the TV worked well, and the shower provided hot water. Additionally, the hotel's location was convenient, as it was close to the downtown area which offered quaint shops and attractions. This made it easy to explore the area and enjoy the holiday festivities.
I must mention that the neighborhood surrounding the hotel was not the safest. It had a bit of a sketchy feel, and I would not have felt comfortable walking around late at night by myself.

The rooms were clean and well-maintained, which is always a priority for me when staying at a hotel. The hotel is centrally located, making it convenient to explore the nearby attractions. The price was also very reasonable, making it a great option for budget-conscious travelers.
The surrounding area of the hotel seemed a bit run-down and not very welcoming. It was also disappointing that there was no heating in the room upon arrival.

As trekkers and a group of friends, we loved the convenient location near Union College. It was a short drive to campus, making it easy to visit our son. Additionally, being within walking distance of Amtrak and car rental was a major plus. The neighborhood, though lower income, felt safe and the locals were friendly. We had a quiet and restful night during our stay. The highlight of our experience was the amazing Jamaican restaurant next to the hotel. The food was simply wonderful, and we enjoyed the option of dining in or getting takeout. There were also several other excellent dining options nearby. The room itself was clean and smelled fresh, and we appreciated the reliable WiFi and the refrigerator in the room.
Felt truly spoilt, no complaints whatsoever.

The bed was comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was strong. That's about it. The hotel offered two complementary facts, but unfortunately, they weren't enough to make up for the other negative experiences. The location wasn't great either, with loud sirens heard all night from an ambulance company down the road.
This was the worst stay ever. Everything was dirty and stained, from the carpet to the bedding.

The double room we stayed in was quite spacious, located near the check-in area on the second level. We had access to coffee and coffee-making facilities, which was a nice touch. The location seems to be in a less busy area, which we found interesting and different from the usual. 🏨
